MY VIDEO OF THE MUSEUM:

Ever since I saw a picture of the sculpture ‘Man Carving his own Destiny’ by Albin Polasek, I’ve wanted to pay a visit to the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Garden in Winter Park, Florida.

A recent vacation to Sarasota, Florida brought me close enough to warrant the day trip to Orlando to see the museum, so I made the trek out. It was *absolutely* worth it!

There are over 200 sculptures of various sizes, both in the museum as well as outside in the sculpture garden. One of the larger sculptures is ‘Victorious Christ’, a large crucifix depicting Christ as triumphant and proudĀ on the cross. This large sculpture hangs in a central room in the museum, along with many working ‘sketches’ of Polasek’s sculptures; small wooden replicas that are meant to be references for later works.

The gardens are a beautiful sight, with dozens of large sculptures scattered throughout. The back of the museum borders on Lake Osceola, which allows for quiet reflection among the life-size sculptures.

Admission was inexpensive, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out! If you’ve ever been to a Rodin exhibit and enjoyed it, you’ll definitely have a good time at theĀ Polasek Museum.
