Easily one of the best scenes of all of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Immediately after I saw this, I knew I had to build a mug that sang a little jingle *every* *single* *time* I used it.

Quark's! Come to Quark’s!
Quark's is fun! Quark’s is fun!

The Radioshack store near my was closing down, so I snapped up a little sound moduleย for next to nothing, and used that for the guts.

To get a recording of the song, I used the headphone jack on my laptop, and just played the clip over and over again until I had it timed right. I snipped the microphone off of the sound module, and replaced it with an 1/8″ audio jack, so I could plug my laptop right into it. I couldn’t hear the video while it was plugged in, so I wound up trying and trying again, A LOT. Once I got it timed right, I cut the button off of the recorder, so it can’t be recorded over on accident! (That happened, it was annoying.)

The mug is based off of a model found on Thingiverse, with an extended base to house the electronics. I also built a small sliding ‘drawer’ to house the guts, so it could be removed to replace the battery.
