It got cold in Virginia, fast! After a few days in a row of sub-50 degree weather, it was time to make a trip to Florida to recharge. Some friends from Florida met (kind of) halfway, so we ended up in Ginnie Springs, which is a small camping ground in High Springs, FL.

I drove down with Chris and Cyndi with a stop in Asheville to pick up Chris’ brother, Jon. In my head, this was much less of a detour than it actually turned out to be.

The drive actually took about 19 hours, which wasn’t terrible considering the car was packed with camping gear and a bunch of people.

I brought my raft with me, so I was able to avoid the $12 inner tube rental. I also tied everyone’s inner tube to my raft, so we all sort of floated down the river in one large pod.

Totally unrelated to camping, but I was thrilled with the way this picture came out, and it was really the first picture I’ve taken on my DSLR that made me feel like I’m figuring out how to use it correctly.
