The Richmond Area Gear Expo (RAGE!) was an eclectic mix of luthiers, guitar pedal makers, and talented musicians. I had a table with some noise instruments (Von Braun VIII and X, reporting for duty) and my ring mod guitar. I was invited by Natalie Quick, who works at Fan Guitar and Ukulele, a great store right by VCU.
The event was held at the Sound of Music recording studio in downtown Richmond, VA. Chrissie Griffith, the organizer, was buzzing around the event all day, helping people set up tables and making sure they had everything they needed. Great space, with a lot of cool studio gear floating around (I counted several ProCo Rats in their pedal collection, always a must-have).
Matthew Griffith had some really cool handmade guitars, and had a few that were in the middle of being built.
Chuck Harrell of Lindy Fralin had a display with some information on guitar pickups, wiring, and other cool stuff.
Acoustas had a live demonstration of their wireless guitar pickup.
There was a table with Dominion amplifiers, including a totally crazy 4×15 cabinet that made my back sore just looking at it! The finish on these amps was crazy top-notch, and looked/felt amazing.
SRC Effects was there with a large assortment of their custom made knobs, as well as some custom made pedals. They sounded just as good as they looked!
